After graduating from elementary school, Mr. Chen Tang-Peng, the founder, left home at the tender age of 13 and traveled alone to Ershui, Changhua, to apprentice in a bakery. Through a twist of fate, he later worked as an apprentice at the renowned Lihua Bakery in Taipei, spending over fifty years of his life surrounded by flour and butter.
At the age of 26, he founded ChiaTe Bakery, originally named Jiade Bread Shop, located at No. 277, Section 5, Nanjing East Road. Unfortunately, the area was low-lying, and the shop was flooded 13 times over the 27 years it was there. The last flood, caused by Typhoon Nari, completely submerged all the machinery and facilities. Years of setbacks and losses nearly drove the founder to give up.
However, the enthusiasm and support of loyal customers inspired him to relocate and reopen the shop. The current location at No. 88, Section 5, Nanjing East Road, has been its home ever since.

We prioritize both the quality and taste of our pastries, and we are equally committed to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene. Our staff members wear uniforms and sanitize their hands regularly. We bake fresh pastries throughout the day and sell only what we produce daily. We believe that freshly baked goods are the best. At the end of each day, we thoroughly clean our kitchen, equipment, and surfaces. We also carefully control the temperature of our refrigerators to ensure that all ingredients are stored at the optimal temperature, preserving the freshness and flavor of our products.
